Two Pretoria ladies in Miss SA top 10

Two beauty queens from Tshwane have been announced in the Miss SA top 10.

The top ten Miss South Africa finalists have been announced with two of the beauty queens hailing from Pretoria.

Gauteng has four finalists – two from Pretoria and one each from Soweto and Crown Gardens-, KZN and Western Province each have two, and Limpopo and North West one each.

A candidate attorney, law-, performing arts- and dietetics students as well as psychology honours graduate, entrepreneurs, small business owners and models are among the remarkable bunch.

Being in the top 10 of Miss SA is nothing new for Lebogang Mahlangu (26).

The procurement specialist for a multinational FMCG company from Soshanguve in Tshwane made the top 10 in 2020.

The University of Stellenbosch BSc in food science graduate told Rekord she entered the contest a second time because “I believe that I have both the heart and the spirit to take the crown”.

“I have a corporate job but am only really happy when I am doing something that has an impact on someone else,” she said.

“I believe I am more prepared this time around and I am putting everything I have into it.”

For Mahlangu, Miss SA is far beyond a pageant but a platform on which she met 29 wonderful young women and who she wants to work and collaborate with.

Pearl Ntshehi (25), who was born and raised in Mamelodi but currently living in Centurion in Tshwane, also came close to making it to the top 30 last year.

Ntshehi is ecstatic and shared her excitement to be in the top ten.

“I realise now that I wasn’t ready last year and this time I have a different sense of self. I decided I was resilient, had grown as a person and that it was right to enter again,” she said.

“I would like to be a representative of the whole of South Africa and touch as many lives as I can.”

Ntshehi is a candidate attorney and holds BCom Law, BCom Honours and LLB degrees.

This year’s Miss South Africa pageant will be held in Gauteng, with the winner being crowned at Sun International’s flagship venue, the SunBet Arena at Time Square in Pretoria.

Liesl Laurie, radio host and Miss South Africa 2015, Tracey-Lee Lusty Horwitz, Dentsu CEO Koo Govender, fashion designer Khosi Nkosi, True Love editor-in-chief Makhosazana Zwane-Siguqa, actress Simoné Nortmann, and actor and TV personality Thando Thabethe are among the Top 10 judges this year.
