Scam metro job alert
"We are appalled at the scammers who prey on the emotions of unsuspecting job seekers like this."
The metro has warned residents not to fall victim to a job offer scam doing the rounds on social media, claiming to offer employment on behalf of its HR department.
“We urge the public to ignore this message because it is a scam,” said the metro in a statement.

The message purports to be from a metro HR admin clerk, informing the “applicant” to contact a certain “Mr Molapo”, a supposed HR coordinator for the metro.
The message requires the applicant to call before a “job interview” meant to take place at Tshwane House in the Pretoria CBD.
“We are appalled at the scammers who prey on the emotions of unsuspecting job seekers like this. We suspect that the scammers want to con vulnerable community members who are desperate for jobs.”
The metro said no payments are required to attend a job interview with the municipality. Vacant jobs are advertised in newspapers or on its www.tshwane.gov.za website’s job forum page.
Shortlisted job applicants receive a call from the metro and are invited to attend an interview via a formal letter.
“We wish to warn those who are peddling false information that they will be arrested, charged and prosecuted as their actions border on criminality.”
The metro confirms that authorities are looking into the matter.
Members of the public can call the Tshwane metro police at 083 657 2998 should they be contacted or come across such fraudulent “job adverts”.
