Laudium and Atteridgeville residents are being encouraged to speak out against Gender Based Violence perpetrators.
This was said by both Laudium and Atteridgeville’s station commanders on Saturday, during an awareness drive on Social crime prevention.
The duo also advised residents on how to avoid the most common crimes in the area such as hijackings, house and business robberies.
“We urge residents to avoid being alone in vehicles when travelling during the night. They must also try not to stop around hijacking spots or at any secluded areas,” Bridadier Andrew Monegi and Lieutenant Colonel David Sithole said.

Laudium SAPS spokesman Simon Chokoe said residents were also warned against carrying lump sums of money when going out as that would make them targets for criminals.
“Communities are advised not to carry much money when going to drinking places. We also cautioned them from carrying weapons when they attend social gatherings.
“They must also try not to share drinks with strangers and to avoid confrontation when under the influence of alcohol and not to leave drinks unattended,” Chokoe added.
“The South Africa Police Service will continue with more visibility, stop and searches in and around the areas to ensure that our communities are and feel safe.”
Residents were also sensitised about criminals pretending to be police officers at this time of year.
