One dead, another in critical condition after R80 crash

A woman died in an accident involving two trucks that collided on the R80 Mabopane highway on Wednesday morning.

A light motor vehicle was also involved.

Tshwane Emergency Services spokesperson Charles Mabaso said initial reports were that one of the trucks lost control and drove into oncoming traffic.

The truck was carrying bricks and traveled north on the R80 when it lost control, drove over the road island and collided with a truck and a light motor vehicle.

He said the accident took place at around 10:00.

“The driver of the other vehicle, a man, was airlifted to Milpark hospital, while the male driver of the light vehicle escaped unharmed.”

According to Mabaso, the accident scene was handed over to the police for further investigations.
