Man critically injured in Pretoria East accident

A 34-year-old man was critically injured in an accident on the N1 in the vicinity of Rigel offramp on Sunday morning.

Paramedics said a 34-year-old man was critically injured in an accident on the N1 in the vicinity of Rigel offramp on Sunday morning.

According to Emer-G-Med, paramedics responded to reports of a vehicle that collided with the back of a truck.

“On arrival on the scene, a 34-year-old man was found still entrapped in the front passenger seat of the vehicle.”

The seriously injured man required advanced life support care while being extricated from the wreckage by the Tshwane Fire Department.

Emer-G-Med furthermore said once the man was free, he was transported to a nearby facility for further care.

“The driver of the vehicle suffered minor injuries only.”

Meanwhile, on Saturday morning, a woman was airlifted after a serious accident at the intersection of the R55 and Lochner Road in Centurion.

Emer-G-Med paramedics said on arrival at the scene, they found two vehicles to have collided.

“Closer inspection found the driver of one vehicle, a woman aged in her late twenties, severely entrapped with critical injuries.

“Several advanced life support intervention methods were needed to stabilize her whilst she was cut-free using the Jaws-of-life.”

Once free, the woman was airlifted by the Netcare911 aeromedical helicopter to a specialist facility for the definitive care that she required.
