Both were born in 1928 and have been Tshwane residents for more than half of their lives.

Early March saw two Pretoria West residents turn 96 years old.

Booysens resident, Tannie Sannie Prinsloo on March 8 and Pretoria Gardens resident, Edwin Morgenrood on March 6 – both Tshwane residents for more than half their lives.

Prinsloo grew up on a smallholding in Kameeldrift Wes and attended Laerskool Generaal Nicolaas Smit and Hercules High School.

She has two brothers that are both still alive and four children, 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

She is still in good health and lives with her son, Jan Prinsloo and other family members and enjoys doing her own housework every day.

Prinsloo was a housewife and stayed on a farm in Roos Senekal Mpumalanga with her husband. The couple sold their farm and moved to Pretoria to stay with their son and family in their latter years. She also still enjoys cooking, and helping out with the baking and urges the youth to maintain a strong sense of faith throughout their days.

Morgenrood first moved to Tshwane in 1945 during the Second World War and used to run a dairy factory in Pretoria Gardens.

His father worked for De Beers in Kimberley where lots of people were sent off to fight. His family then moved to Pretoria where he found another employment opportunity.

Morgenrood had been married for nearly 60 years when his wife passed away two years ago. He stays in Prestige Park with his son and has five children in total and looks forward to living out the rest of his days in peace. He enjoys spending time doing puzzles and is currently working on one of a leopard.
