Six Sundowns players selected for Banyana’s Olympic battle against Nigeria
The Sundowns Ladies coaches are delighted with the selection of six players to the preliminary squad for the 2024 CAF Women's Olympic qualifier.

Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies’ coaches are overjoyed by the selection of six of their players to Banyana Banyana for the CAF Women’s Olympic qualifier against Nigeria.
The players are Lebohang Ramalepe (defender), Tiisetso Makhubela (defender), Bambanani Mbane (defender), Nonhlanhla Mthandi (midfielder), Karabo Dlamini (defender) and Nthabiseng Majiya (striker).
According to assistant coach Agnes Nkosi, these women have earned their spots on the team and are ready to take South African ladies football to the next level.
“As coaches, we believe in the players that are selected. They are going to display good football and bring positive attitude,” said Nkosi.
The coach believes the experience of playing in the qualifiers will be invaluable to the selected players, as it will give them exposure to an international level of competition.
She said not only will it benefit their individual development, but also help the team grow and improve.
The coach is confident that with this experience, the team will be even more competitive in future tournaments.
“Playing in the national team will increase their profile because they will get exposure internationally,” said Nkosi.
Sundowns said initially seven of their players were selected to Banyana Banyana, but Asanda Hadebe has returned home.
Banyana Banyana will go up against Nigeria on Friday, April 5 for a spot in the Olympic women’s football tournament in Paris.
