A pregnant cow was saved in a dramatic pit hours-long rescue in Hammanskraal on Wednesday afternoon.

According to the Soshanguve animal shelter and Educentre NPC, they received a call about the cow on Wednesday afternoon.

It furthermore said they could not immediately respond as they were experiencing issues with their vehicle.

“The wonderful community of Mogogelo in Hammaskraal managed to get her out of the pit.”

It is believed the rescue mission took 4-5 hours on Wednesday evening.

“I am on my way to go check up on her as she got injured during the fall, but the good news is she is able to walk, and I will go out to see if she is in a good or bad condition.”

Tebogo Maredi said in a Facebook post.

She furthermore said she would be liaising with the state Vet to advise and share information about the cow.

Maredi added that even though they couldn’t physically attend the rescue, they were in contact with the community until the cow was safe.

The Soshanguve animal shelter and Educentre NPC advocate for the prevention of cruelty towards animals, through education and awareness.
