Cullinan alleged farm murderer arrested

A man was arrested for the brutal murder of Dirk Kritzinger (81) and the severe beating of his wife Sarie in a farm attack in Cullinan.

Police arrested a 35-year-old man for the brutal murder of Dirk Kritzinger (81) and severely beating his wife Sarie in a farm attack in Cullinan.

According to a police spokesperson Warrant-Officer Johan van Dyk a district task team, comprising detectives and members of Cullinan SAPS, was activated on Saturday.

“The team initiated efforts to track and apprehend the suspect following the farm attack.”

Police found the 81-year-old elderly man, Dirk Kritzinger (81) with severe head injuries and lying in a pool of blood.

His wife, Sarie was severely injured and was receiving medical attention.

Van Dyk said a witness stated that he quickly drove to the man’s residence after he received a call from the deceased’s daughter notifying him that her parents were not answering their phones.

She suspected something might have occurred because it was unusual for them not to answer the phones.

“On his arrival he found the severely injured woman and the deceased in the house.”

He said it is unknown what the motive for the attack and if any property was stolen.

Van Dyk said through the investigation of all leads and information received from the community, suspects potentially involved in the murder and assault of the elderly couple were identified.

“The team was led to the residence of one suspect, where he was located and arrested.”

Van Dyk said a search of the suspect’s house uncovered property and a firearm belonging to the victims.

“The investigation is ongoing to pursue all leads and bring all suspects to justice.”

The suspect will soon appear before the Cullinan Magistrates Court to face charges of Murder, House Robbery, Assault with Intent to Cause Grievous Bodily Harm, and Possession of Suspected Stolen Property.

Brigadier Thine commended all members for their dedication and hard work in bringing the perpetrators to justice.
