Stanza Bopape CHC team honoured for healthcare service excellence
The community health centre was recognised by the National Health Department for its excellent daily work and for making sure that over 2 000 people, including HIV/Aids patients, get their medication.
Stanza Bopape Community Health Centre (CHC) in Mamelodi East was recently awarded a trophy and certificates for its excellent Total clients remaining on ART (TROA) services.
ART stands for antiretroviral therapy.
The centre was honoured for its excellent daily work and for making sure that over 2 000 people, including HIV/Aids patients, get their medication and that there were no defaulting patients.
Stanza Bopape CHC project manager Masego Moalosi said their team, including management, were awarded the trophy for their excellent work in making sure patients meet their clinic appointments daily and take their medication, especially HIV patients.
She said Mamelodi and Tshwane have many HIV/Aids patients.
“The Department of Health decided to see these patients by giving them their daily treatment, and the numbers showed that for this year in October, we see 14 287 patients who are still taking their chronic medication.”
Moalosi said the Stanza Bopape CHC sees the trophy as representing the lives they have managed to save as the Stanza Bopape TROA team, including all the staff and management of the centre.
“The trophy and award certificates did not come easy; there were hard times, but sometimes it’s because of how we operate our CHC,” said Moalosi.
She said they managed to improve their filing system after files had gone missing or it took them hours to search for files. “We are happy that we were able to keep our records and patients no longer wait hours for their files.
“We are trying every day to improve our filing system because the population is growing almost every day for Stanza Bopape CHC, and we are pleading with patients to be patient with us while waiting for their files,” she said.
The TROA team encouraged patients to stick to their appointments and take their clinic consultations very seriously.
The team said they strive every day to give everyone the best medical healthcare services, including the LGBTQ community.
The team also encouraged the public to always know their HIV and TB status, as well as stick to clinic appointments.
Moalosi said: “We want a good working relationship with our patients, and those who have missed their appointments because of travelling with work, don’t be afraid to tell the truth”.
Patients’ files are made ready before actual appointments to avoid waiting for hours.
Phumzile Gama of the clinic committee said: “We are proud of the staff members and management of Stanza Bopape CHC for their hard work in achieving a trophy award for best performance CHC.
“We are also pleading with the community and our patients to keep up the good relationship with the staff and encourage them to never give up and stay focused at all times,” said Gama.
Moalosi concluded that patients must make use of the centre’s phone number to confirm or postpone their appointment if they can’t make it by dialling 010 345 4316.
