Agricultural programme aims to combat poverty
A food programme is on a mission to combat poverty and malnutrition, and enhance food security in the community.
An agricultural programme aims to close the gap between vegetable gardening and other small-scale farming by educating and employing the community of Mamelodi.
The Blue Peter Agricultural Empowerment Programme and the Warm Nest Enterprise aim to empower small-scale farmers with advanced skills and knowledge in farming.

Justice Lebotsa from Warm Nest Enterprise said its mission is to combat poverty and malnutrition and enhance food security within the community.
“We believe that by supporting local farmers, we can create a sustainable and thriving agricultural sector,” said Lebotsa.

He said their newly launched programme is revolutionising the agricultural landscape for small-scale farmers.
“The objectives of the programme are to enhance local farming skills and promote sustainable agricultural practices.
“We want to enhance farming skills for locals and small-scale farmers by promoting sustainable agricultural practices,” said Lebotsa.
The programme will also help to increase food security, reduce poverty, foster community development and empower the youth.
The founder from Mamelodi said the programme addresses pressing issues in the agricultural sector, including youth development.
The programme will also inspire and educate residents about the importance of sustainable agriculture and community empowerment.
“Our programme is proudly supported by esteemed partners, including Peter Kole Molepo, a dedicated organic farmer and Thapelo Godfrey Mmope, a seasoned agricultural expert.

Warm Nest Enterprise was founded in 2022 by agritech innovator Justice Lebotsa. It has achieved remarkable milestones, including being named one of the 2023/2024 Top 16 Youth-Owned Brands and becoming a finalist in the Allan Gray Intercollege Entrepreneurship Pitch Competition.
The programme is held at local schools and open spaces where the community members are running vegetable gardens.
