Residents and their pets enjoy Christmas in July
Pets are welcome on the running and walking trails as well as at the market.
Running enthusiasts and their four-legged companions enjoyed a Christmas in July this past weekend, courtesy of the Irene Village Market and Revolution Trails.
The Christmas in July yearly sale has been a staple event on the Irene Village Market at the Big Red Barn in Centurion, and this weekend, running company Revolution Trails hosted a pet-friendly run of various distances for residents to enjoy.
“It’s not always safe to run with your dogs on public roads. Sometimes, for example, in an estate, there isn’t enough space to run with your dogs.
So, the dogs like coming out here; they’re very well-behaved, social, and they always wear their leashes. The people really enjoy coming out with their pets,” said operations manager, Lourene Mostert.
Mostert said they welcomed around 50 runners at the trail, and partnering with the market allowed runners to check out the many stalls available afterwards, as the market is also pet-friendly.
“In the near future, we’re looking to open up a new venue at Copperleaf, and we’re also pretty excited about the spring run and the actual Christmas run at the end of the year.
“Aside from that, [we will open] as many trails as we can. We have Wednesday trails, Saturday trails and Sunday trails, and public holidays as well,” Mostert added.
