Robber shot and killed, three others injured in Centurion shootout

A suspected robber was shot dead, and three others were injured during a shootout in Centurion on Wednesday.

A suspected robber was shot and killed, and three others were injured during a shootout on the R101 at the Brakfontein/Old Johannesburg Road off-ramp in Centurion on Wednesday.

According to Cert-SA, the incident followed an alleged robbery in the eastern parts of Pretoria, after which a suspect vehicle was pursued to the off-ramp.

“Upon arrival on scene, our crews attended to three individuals who sustained gunshot wounds following an alleged robbery and subsequent pursuit.

“It is alleged that the robbery occurred in the eastern parts of Pretoria, after which a suspect vehicle was pursued to the Old Johannesburg Road off-ramp, where a shootout reportedly ensued

between armed security personnel and the alleged suspects.”

It furthermore said three suspects were found wounded on the scene. One individual was declared deceased due to injuries sustained.

“Two others were treated and transported to a hospital in critical condition under police guard. A fourth suspect was arrested and remains in police custody.”

The scene was attended by multiple law enforcement agencies and private security companies.

“The exact circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation by the relevant authorities.”
