Possible three-day water disruptions this week in Irene

The scheduled work will take place for 10 hours each day from March 10–12.

Residents and businesses in several parts of Centurion should prepare for possible water supply disruptions over the next three days as the Tshwane metro undertakes planned infrastructure work in Irene.

The municipality’s water and sanitation business unit will, from March 10–12, relocate an existing water pipeline on Olievenhoutbosch Road in Irene.

Metro spokesperson Lindela Mashigo said the pipe will be moved to a more accessible location to make future maintenance easier.

“The pipe will be relocated to an accessible location so that it can be convenient for maintenance purposes,” he said.

According to the city, the planned work will take place for 10 hours each day, from 08:00 until 18:00.

Mashigo said several areas in Centurion are expected to be affected by the work, including Byls Bridge, Centurion Residential Estate, Highveld Technopark, Highveld businesses, all Highveld extensions, Southdowns Shopping Centre, Southdowns View and Southdowns Estate.

He indicated that the work forms part of efforts by the municipality to improve access to critical infrastructure so that maintenance can be carried out more efficiently in future.

“The city apologises profusely for any inconvenience that may arise as a result of this scheduled work.”
