Mayor appoints new MMC
Kgosietsile Jairus Kgosiemang will be replacing Abel Tau, against whom a criminal case was opened in September.
Tshwane metro has a new MMC for housing and human settlements.
Kgosietsile Jairus Kgosiemang replaces in the portfolion, Abel Tau, who was sacked from ActionSA following an accusation of attempted rape against him.
A criminal case was opened against Tau in September.
“Kgosiemang possesses strong experience in leadership and management and has our full support,” said Tshwane mayor Randall Williams.
Williams said Kgosiemang’s experience in leadership would allow the metro’s human settlements division to tackle challenges such as a housing backlog and illegal land occupation.
The department’s responsibilities also include the relocation and formalisation of informal settlements along with the issuing of title deeds and social housing.
Kgosiemang was a member of various professional bodies organisations including Institute of Directors, Institute of Internal Auditors and Institute of Risk Management.
Williamsn said the newly appointed MMC’s professional background and qualifications were within the realm of internal auditing.
“He will also be deployed to region 2 for basic service delivery oversight and management.”
ActionSA Gauteng chairperson, Bongani Baloyi, welcomed Kgosiemang’s appointment.
“He is the current chief whip of ActionSA in the City of Tshwane. He has made great inroads in fast-tracking pertinent coalition priorities within our coalition management committee. He has also been very instrumental as a member of the portfolio committee on finance,” Baloyi said.
“We are confident that Kgosiemang, with his degree in internal auditing, a post-graduate degree in risk management and years of experience at the Department of Public Works will add value to the mayoral committee. All while expediting the ever-urgent housing and human settlement services required by Tshwane residents.”
Baloyi said relocating the Mamelodi flood victims and completing the incomplete RDP housing were just two of the department’s priorities.
“ActionSA wishes him all success.”
