Woodhill Golf Club shooting: Security manager recovering
The security manager who was shot at the prestigious Woodhill Golf Club is recovering. Here is the latest information in this case.
The security manager shot at the prestigious Woodhill Golf Club on Saturday evening is recovering.
Woodhill Residential Estate and Country Club CEO Alan Hargroves said Themba, the security manager, has undergone a successful operation and is in positive and high spirits.
He said Woodhill would cover his medical expenses and legal costs.
An update to residents said trauma counselling had been arranged for all affected staff.
“An independent investigator has been appointed to investigate the events and provide a detailed report and recommendations going forward,” it said.
This comes after 36-year-old resident, Cedric Kabeya, reportedly assaulted one man and shot the security manager in the hand.
Kabeya, who turned himself in at Garsfontein police station earlier this week, has been charged with attempted murder and common assault.
Police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi said the incident happened on Saturday evening.
According to reports, Kabeya appeared in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday to apply for bail.
Kabeya, a businessman who has lived at the state for the past three years, denied any wrongdoing.
He apparently claimed an employee intended to assault him with a bottle, leading to the injury, and not a gunshot as alleged.
Bail was set at R5 000, and the court ordered Kabeya to stay away from the estate pending the finalisation of the case.
He will next appear in court on November 28.
