The Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) nabbed six suspects on August 23 following multiple break-ins at the TMPD Mamelodi Academy.

TMPD spokesperson, Senior Superintendent Isaac Mahamba, said four suspects were arrested on August 23, after officers responded to an anonymous tip-off from the public.

Mahamba said police acted on the information, which later led to the arrest of several suspects.

“The suspects confessed to stealing chairs and tables from the TMPD Mamelodi Academy. They then directed our members to the locations where the stolen items were sold,” said Mahamba.

Following this breakthrough, two additional suspects were arrested for having the stolen property.

Mahamba warned the public against buying stolen goods, stressing that doing so is a crime.

“We urge the community to refrain from purchasing stolen goods, as doing so makes them accomplices and subjects them to the same penalties,” he said.

Mahamba said the six suspects were in police custody and expected to appear in court soon.
