More help desks for municipal property leases

The metro has expanded its Lease Enquiry Desk operations to additional sites across the city: Tshwane House and the Ou Raadsaal.

Residents interested in leasing municipal property will now have additional sites at which to lodge any queries they may have, as the metro recently expanded its Lease Enquiry Desk operations.

The Expanded Access Points include Tshwane House: Cubicles 7 and 8 (Monday –Friday) and the Ou Raadsaal (Church Square): Cubicles G27 and G28 (Wednesdays only).

The new desks are operational effective immediately.

Lease Enquiry Desks will operate from Monday to Friday, between 07:30 to 16:00, at key service points across the city.

MMC for Corporate and Shared Services Kholofelo Morodi said the initiative will usher in a new era of transparency, accessibility, and investor confidence.

She hopes the enhancement responds directly to public feedback and aligns with the metro’s commitment to responsive, high-performance governance.

“By streamlining access to lease information and reinforcing regulatory clarity, the city is actively cultivating an environment where compliant investment thrives, fueling job creation, spatial transformation, and sustainable development,” Morodi said.

“This is more than a service enhancement – it is a signal of intent. The City of Tshwane is building a future where municipal property serves the public good, and where every resident and investor knows their way in,” Morodi added.

This operational upgrade forms part of the metro’s flagship Know Your Way In programme. The Lease Application Workshop is a capacity-building initiative designed to equip residents, entrepreneurs, and investors with the knowledge and tools to navigate municipal property leasing processes in a legal manner to combat land grabs.

Morodi said the metro’s approach to municipal property leasing is rooted in lawful allocation, institutional integrity, and developmental impact.

Prospective lessees and the public are reminded of the following governance protocols:

All municipal property is allocated exclusively through a Council resolution or transparent public tender process.

The metro does not issue or recognise Permissions to Occupy (PTOs) or direct leases outside of Council mandates. Any such documents are fraudulent and must be reported.

All payments related to municipal property leases must be made directly to the metro. No third-party or intermediary collections are permitted.
