Sixth straight league title win for Banyana Ba Style
The Brazilian Ladies extended their unbeaten league run to 16 matches and cemented their dominance in the Hollywoodbets Super League.
Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies are officially the Hollywoodbets Super League champions for the sixth consecutive season.
This title was officially awarded on December 7, following their final league match against TS Galaxy Queens, where they secured a commanding 4–0 victory.
Having already wrapped up the championship ahead of the final match day, Sundowns arrived with nothing left to prove, yet still closed their historic campaign in style by putting four unanswered goals past Galaxy.
This latest showdown saw the Brazilians seize control from the opening whistle.
They moved the ball with purpose throughout the first half and eventually converted their dominance into a breakthrough when Asanda Hadebe capped off a flowing move to put the champions ahead in the 45th minute.
Just seven minutes later, Nthabiseng Majiya doubled the advantage with a strike that found the back of the net in the 52nd minute.
From there, Munashe Mugwara took complete control of the contest.
She made it 3–0 in the 65th minute after pouncing on a defensive error, and in the 86th minute, her second goal of the afternoon sealed a commanding victory for the champions.
Ahead of the fixture, anticipation within the Sundowns camp was filled with emotion and gratitude rather than nerves.
Midfield orchestrator Khunjulwa Mali described the occasion as a moment of pure joy.
“Even though we have lifted trophies before, it still excites us every single time. The feeling never gets old.”
She said celebrating with fans means everything to the team, adding that Sunday’s match would be their chance to give back.
“We love and appreciate our fans deeply. They push us and motivate us, and on Sunday, we promise to give them a show worthy of champions.
“It is our way of saying thank you for every chant, every banner, and every moment they stood by us this season. We want them to feel the joy and pride that we feel, because this title also belongs to them,” she said.
Defender Thato Letsoso explained that every bit of hard work and sacrifice had led them to this moment.
She highlighted the role of their fans, whose support she described as incredible from start to finish.
“Our hard work is paying off. It is a special moment, and we want to make sure we honour it properly by giving our best performance.”
Letsoso added that the team approached the match with sharp focus, insisting that every training session and every league fixture had prepared them for this stage.
She said the players embraced the pressure that comes with being champions and entered the game with determination and pride, aiming to end the season with a powerful, memorable performance.
The triumph also added another chapter to what has become a quietly compelling rivalry between Sundowns and TS Galaxy since their first meeting in 2023.
Their debut encounter that year ended in a tightly contested 1–1 draw, before Sundowns edged the reverse fixture 1–0 later that same season.
From there, the defending champions steadily tightened their grip, winning five of the six meetings played over the years and drawing once, leaving Galaxy still searching for its first-ever victory against the Brazilians.
