Sport Highlights, 11-13 December

Saturday's final of the Ram Slam T20 cricket tournament at SuperSport Park in Centurion seems to be the most important sporting action for the people of Pretoria this weekend.

The festive season is here, but there is a lot of action on the sports fields of South Africa.

Cricket

The Proteas’ tour of India is mercifully over. Therefore all the attention will this weekend be at the Ram Slam final, where the Titans face the Dolphins on Saturday in Centurion.

Although the return of Kevin Petersen will give the Dolphins enough confidence, the Titans should still be the favourite to be crowned as South Africa’s best T20 team this season. They played some brilliant cricket over the past few weeks and they have a great balanced team.

The action at SuperSport Park starts at 18:00 on Saturday.

Sevens rugby

Cape Town is abuzz with rugby action this week in the build-up to the highly-anticipated HSBC Cape Town Sevens. The HSBC Cape Town Sevens will be staged at the 55 000 seater Cape Town stadium this coming Saturday and Sunday. The sold-out event is the second round of the World Series which consists of 10 tournaments across the globe.

The Springbok sevens team’s games in the play-off stage of the tournament will be played at the following times on Saturday:

– 12:49 (match 9) against Zimbabwe

– 16:10 (match 16) against Kenya

– 19:56 (match 24) against England

The finals will take place on Sunday.

Athletics

The Enoch Skosana road race is to be held on Saturday 12 December at the Pretoria Correctional Services in Kgosi Mampuru Street.

In addition to the 10km race, there is also a 5km fun run (starting at 06:30) and a street mile (starting at 08:30). The main race will also start at 06:30.

Soccer

Only one game will be played in the Premier Soccer league this weekend. AmaTuks (University of Pretoria) will travel to Bethlehem to meet Free State Stars on Sunday afternoon at 15:30.
