Mabopane golf academy seeks to empower more youth

"The objective is to offer golf clinic courses, and expose township kids to golf at a young age,” the academy said.

A well-known golf academy wants more youth to teach the sport to.

Director of Mabopane Golf Driving Range Montsho Molope this week called on two youths interested in golf to come forward and join his team for training.

Molope said the two would be trained and equipped with the necessary skills they could share with other youths to grow the sport in Mabopane, Soshanguve and Winterveldt.

“The objective is to offer golf clinics, and expose township kids to golf at a young age,” he said.

The academy is the only one to provide training, competition and academic training to golfers between the age of nine to 13 in Mabopane.

“Through our supportive and competitive environment, the young players develop the critical qualities of commitment, goal setting and a consistent work ethic to best impact their academics, golf, and future endeavors.”

According to Molope, the training programme focused on nutrition, fitness, academics, social and life skills as well as mental strength.

“Our mission is to provide the best junior golf academy environment that allows junior golfers to reach their true potential. We all have a unique personality style, beliefs and values that give meaning to the world around us. Knowing that everyone is different, we have created a unique approach to athletic development, which is personally overseen and directed by Edward Molope and no matter which programme you attend, we will adopt this holistic approach to give you the ultimate opportunity to be your best,” he said.

“Our purpose is to build golf skills: technical, mental, strategic and physical, and to build character, producing well-rounded and balanced individuals.

Our goal is to create a junior golf academy environment that is inspiring and motivating, providing the structure and tools to allow our students to reach their full potential.”

He said although many of the programmes were group training, he believed in creating custom training programmes for each player based on their individual needs and goals.
