SPORT: Top athletes raring to go to SA Senior Championships in Pertoria
Olympic champion Caster Semenya and Africa's fastest man Akani Simbine will be in action.
There’s a buzz of excitement around Tuks track field ahead on the 2018 SA athletics championships.
The championships will start on Thursday at Tuks athletics stadium and conclude on Saturday.
The highly awaited competition will see different athletes around the country come together to compete.
Olympic champion Caster Semenya confirmed that she would compete in the 800m and 1 500m events.

That is after she secured gold and bronze medals at the IAAF world championships in London last year.
“The 800m and 1 500m are the main things (for me) at the moment because we are focusing on the middle distance,” Semenya said after setting a national 1 000m record last week.
“(As athletes) we try by all means to be better in each and every race that we run, so I hope we will be able to balance that and we will see what we can do.”
Sprinter Akani Simbine, who opened his season with a 10.05s victory over 100m at the grand prix meeting in Tshwane, is expected to feature this week in both the 100m and 200m.
“I am going to double up the 100m and 200m. It is something I feel I need to do, because I need to get race-fit before the Commonwealth Games.”
Long jumper Ruswahl Samaai, who launched an impressive 8.24m leap in Tshwane last week, is also eager to compete for the national crown.
The world championships bronze medallist will be lining up against the in-form global champion, Luvo Manyonga.

ASA president Aleck Skhosana said he was looking forward to the championships.
