Real Madrid coaches hold their first ever football clinic in South Africa.
Real Madrid academy coaches are in Pretoria to help develop the football skills of more than 50 young aspiring stars.
Boys, between 8 and 14 years old, from all over Gauteng province began the first ever Real Madrid training in South Africa (SA) on Thursday at Crawford School in the east of Pretoria.
The three-day football clinic, conducted by coaches Alex de la Rosa, Acacio Jimenez and Pedro Ruiz, is scheduled to end on Saturday, thanks to Coerver Coaching SA.
Director of Coerver Coaching SA Cayl Coetsee said the training was part of their programme aimed at developing young football players.
“We started Coerver a couple of years ago and decided young football players between 8 and 14 years of age are most often neglected in SA,” Coetsee said.
He said he believed they must bring in big brands to help.
“We have 60 children across three age groups involving under 10s, 12s and 14s with the whole objective of offering them exposure like the children in Real Madrid training.”
Real Madrid coaches will also train local coaches on Tuesday and Thursday next week.
“We have 90 coaches from the Gauteng region that will be in attendance. The visiting coaches will share their methodologies and spend most of the time in the field.”
