Sport uniting Pta community

An Indian businessman has thrown his weight behind the development of sport in Hammanskraal.
Baljit Singh, otherwise known as Kaka, united the community of Hammanskraal on Sunday 3 June when he announced sponsorship for a local tournament.
This happened at Selemela sports grounds on Sunday where old people came through to compete in various sports activities.
“Hundreds of community members guarded their grandparents who were playing soccer. Four teams of Gogos and four teams of masters participated in the tournament,” said Singh.
Dertig Masters scooped the trophy, medals and R1500 and Sekampaneng Grannies scooped trophy, medals and R1500.
Singh said he was a businessman in and around Hammanskraal and had always wanted to do something to plough back into the community.
“I wanted to do this in the form of sports. Sports is something that is close to my heart,” he said.
“I wanted to encourage parents to influence their kids to join sports in order to avoid criminal activities and use of drugs.”
He said he intended to arrange another tournament soon for young stars.
Locals were happy to see someone from outside interested in building a future for people of Hammanskraal.
