Sport highlights 13 to 15 November
Football and cricket will this weekend, be the only distraction for South Africans who want to forget about the heat wave.
Sports fans will this weekend probably focus on the Proteas cricket team in India and Bafana Bafana against Angola.
Cricket
The Proteas lost the first Test of their current series to India by 108 runs, which makes the second test of four very important. It starts on Saturday, at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.
Meanwhile, the Ram Slam T20 series continues. On Friday 13 November, the Titans travel to Bloemfontein to play against the Knights.
On Sunday, the people of Pretoria can look forward to a double-header at SuperSport Park. At 12:00, the Cape Cobras and the Dolphins will play in the first T20 game of the day. Directly after this game, at 16:00, the Titans and the Warriors will get on the pitch for the second game of the day.
Athletics
The holiday season is now approaching and many road runners work harder than usual to make up for the coming lazy days in December. For serious athletes who want to suffer for the last time this year, the Tom Jenkins half marathon is just the right medicine.
This race is run over the hill between Arcadia and the Moot-area via Tom Jenkins Avenue. For the less serious runners there will be a 10 kilometre race and a 5 kilometre fun run. The half marathon and the 10 kilometre race starts at 06:00 and the 5 kilometre fun run will start at 06:10. Enquiries: John on 082-277-6819.
Golf
The next big local tournament in the build-up to the Nedbank Golf Challenge at Sun City in December, is the Vodacom Origins of Golf final, played at Zebula Country Club in Limpopo. This tournament will be completed this weekend, and it has a prize-money of R650 000.
