Care Centre’s women know everything about ‘Find your Wingz’
A very special group of ladies from the Bethany Crisis Care Centre, who do a great job to live the motto of this year's SPAR Women’s Race Pretoria, has already enrolled to participate in this race this year.
This year the Bethany Crisis Care Centre entered 40 participants for the SPAR Women’s Challenge Pretoria.
The team partly consists of employees but also includes some of the victims who benefit from the assistance and support of the crisis care centre.
The Bethany Pregnancy Crisis Care Centre epitomises the “Find your Wingz” theme of the SPAR Women’s Challenge.
It provides a haven to all women faced with abuse, trauma, crises or other distressing and life changing events.
The centre provides trauma and specialised counselling for women dealing with the emotional trauma of sexual, physical and emotional abuse, unplanned pregnancy or the loss of a baby. The care centre uplifts, counsels and supports women on their journey to wholeness.
The Bethany Centre chose the SPAR Women’s challenge as a platform to promote awareness of the crisis care centre and to ensure that women with broken wings know where they can safely nest and rest while being taken care of.
“Personally, it means to protect your body, mind and spirit to the best of your own ability. At the Bethany Pregnancy Crisis Care Centre we reach out to women in need. Should any woman somehow lose her wings, we will help her find them again,” said Lizelle Jonker, centre director and counsellor when she was asked what “Find your Wingz” mean to them.
Considering the current femicide and serious abuse against women in South Africa, the Bethany Pregnancy Crisis Care Centre fulfils a dire need in transforming the lives of women who have broken wings.
SPAR North Rand wished the centre’s race ladies good luck and well done on the excellent support and services they give to all women who suffer from distress and need the crisis care centre’s support.
