Festival of Running is back at SuperSport Park
After the success of the first Festival of Running in 2017 there is a spirit of anticipation among athletes for the second edition of this festival, which will take place in Centurion this weekend.
On Saturday 23 June 2018, SuperSport Park will again transform into a running hub for more than 2 500 amateur and seasoned runners for the second edition of the Stor-Age Festival of Running.
This festival is an innovative in-stadia event for every type of runner.
The 2018 event follows the inaugural Festival of Running, which took place last year when the running community and their families descended upon the stadium to take part.
Pierre Joubert, Commercial Manager of SuperSport Park, commented is excited about the second Festival of Running and he believes this year’s festival will be even better than their first attempt last year.
“We are all very excited about this year’s event, as we have already surpassed our expected interest in the festival and believe it will be even bigger and better than last year. There is much excitement amongst the local community, and we urge all runners and their families to join us on 23 June,” said Joubert.
This year the festival has been altered from a two-day festival to only one-day in order to maximise the experience for participants.
South Africa’s leading self-storage company, Stor-Age, has committed to a three-year title sponsorship of the event to help the organisers grow it into an even bigger success.
Chris Oosthuizen, Head of Sales, Marketing and Product for Stor-Age, said it was a natural fit for the company to become involved in this event as they are an existing stadium partner.
The festival consists of three different race categories from which to choose, namely the Solo Challenge, Relay and Schools Challenge, tailoring the race for both amateur and seasoned runners. The aim is to build a community of runners within the safe confines of SuperSport Park.
Participants will run in laps around the stadium and along the grass embankments to complete the 2km route.
All runners looking for some fun and a chance to challenge themselves with endurance are invited to take part in the event. Runners can get more information and register for their race on the official website at www.festivalrunning.com.
