Blue Bulls high school teams on their way to national rugby weeks
The Bulls' high school rugby teams that will participate in this year's different national high schools rugby weeks, were officially capped at a function at Loftus Park next to Loftus Versfeld last week.
The Blue Bulls Rugby Union have revealed the high school teams which will represent the Union at the upcoming Youth Weeks.
The official capping ceremony for the 2018 Youth Weeks was held at Loftus Park last week, with the players and management all being in attendance.
The Blue Bulls Rugby Union president, Willem Strauss, congratulated the boys on their performance. He told them that these national weeks give them the opportunity to be spotted and that they can boost their rugby career.
Ferdi Niemand (BBRU High Schools Chairman), Burger Odendaal (Bulls captain) and Hanro Liebenberg (Bulls loose forward) were all with Strauss part of the capping ceremony.
A total of seven teams were part of this capping ceremony. The Blue Bulls will, with the WP and the Golden Lions, this year send two teams to the under 18 Craven Week and the under 18 Academy Week respectively, while they have also selected three teams for the under 16 Grant Khomo week.
Odendaal stated what an honour it is to represent the Blue Bulls at youth level, while wishing the teams good luck.
“It’s such an exciting day for these young men, and it was an absolute privilege for us to be part of it. This is an early step in what I personally hope will be a long and amazing rugby journey for these boys. On behalf of the entire Bulls Family, I would like to wish them all the best for the upcoming tournaments, and for everything that lies ahead for them,” said Odendaal.
He advised the boys to remember to enjoy every moment of the journey.
“It’s more than just rugby. It’s about the overall experience and lessons that you learn now, that will help you going forward in life,” Odendaal concluded.
