Malema points a finger at Israel
EFF leader threatened his party would physically remove Israel embassy staff if they did not leave South Africa.
A number of Palestinians based in South Africa gathered in Pretoria last week, urging Israel to stop its attacks on the Gaza Strip in Palestine.
Hundreds of Palestinians marched to the Israel Embassy in the east of Pretoria on Friday to express concern over the killing of children.
Shehzaard Noormohamed, one of the protesters said: “Israel should cease fire and return to the negotiation table.”
Also in attendance was the Economic Freedom Fighters members and party leader Julius Malema, who voiced support for the Palestinian people.
Malema said the world would not be free as long as Palestine was not free, saying: “Freedom of the people of Palestine is freedom of the people of the world.”
He warned the Israel ambassador to leave South Africa.
“Those who are killing innocent people are not welcome in South Africa,” Malema said.
He told police in uniform protecting the Israel embassy that they were guarding murderers who did not respect other human beings.
Members of the embassy would be physically removed if they did not leave the country, Malema said.
“Today, we are just firing warning shots. If the ambassador do not leave, we are going to come back here in our numbers and remove him physically.”
