Eddie the Eagle is the new comedy drama, inspired by a true story, which starts showing at Nu Metro Menlyn Park in Pretoria (and other cinemas nationwide) from Friday, 8 April 2016.
Michael “Eddie” Edwards (Taron Egerton) was an unlikely but courageous British ski-jumper who never stopped believing in himself, even as an entire nation was counting him out.
With the help of a rebellious and charismatic coach (a role filled to great effect by the well-known Hugh Jackman), Eddie takes on the establishment and wins the hearts of sports fans around the world by making an improbable and historic showing at the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics.
Eddie the Eagle is one of those feel-good films that puts a smile on your face as you leave the cinema, but also instils the kind of inspiration which gives hope to the underdog seeking triumph against all odds.
