COMPETITION: Golden Globe winner for girl’s night out
Don't miss a chance to see La La Land in cinemas.
Want to hold a girls night out, but cannot decide what to do?
What about going to a pre-release screening of the record-breaking Golden Globe winner La La Land!
Nu Metro Cinemas will be hosting South Africa’s first ladies-only pre-release screenings of the film as part of Girls’ Night Out event (GNO) next Thursday 19 January 2017 at 20:00.
This means that you and your girlfriends can see the film more than a week before its general release date on 27 January.
La La Land launched this year’s awards season in glorious style by breaking the record for the most Golden Globe Awards, winning seven prizes.
It won every award it was nominated for – including Best Picture (Musical or Comedy), Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Score and Best Song.
And, now, Nu Metro is giving ladies across South Africa a first look at what all the fuss is about.
Nu Metro Cinemas will also be hosting special sneak pre-release screenings of the film next Saturday and Sunday, 21 and 22 January 2017 (all shows daily) at the following cinemas: Bedfordview (Jhb), Canal Walk (CT), Clearwater (Jhb), Hyde Park (Jhb), Parkview (Pta), The Pavilion (Dbn), V&A Waterfront (CT) and Walmer Park (PE).
These screenings are open to all cinema fans, for everyone to enjoy the allure of this striking new musical.
La La Land tells the story of Mia (Emma Stone), an aspiring actress, and Sebastian (Ryan Gosling), a dedicated jazz musician, who are struggling to make ends meet in a city known for crushing hopes and breaking hearts.
Set in modern day Los Angeles, this original musical about everyday life explores the joy and pain of pursuing your dreams.
It is a high-flying musical filled with euphoria, in the magical tradition of Hollywood classics, but it also has a distinct 21st Century energy to seduce contemporary audiences.
It is guaranteed to get everyone tapping their feet to the infectious music; be mesmerised by its immaculate style, top-notch acting, touching story, brilliant screenplay and truly memorable ambience.
The film has been praised by critics everywhere as the standout film of the year.
“La La Land serves to remind us that movies can still be magical, and they can still provide the channel for us to see magic in the world around us,” writes Brian Tallerico for RogerEbert.com
“It’s not so much another day in the sun, as the characters sing in that opening number, but the dreams of the night before, the ones we wake up and try to fulfill, that keep us dancing,”
The GNO-screenings will take place at all Nu Metro Cinemas nationwide next Thursday (19 January).
The event starts at 19:00, with the film screening at 20:00.
Apart from women being treated to the pre-release, there will also be lots of extras to look forward to on the night as well.
Please note that access to Girls’ Night Out-screenings at Nu Metro’s cinemas is open to women only, but the sneak previews next weekend are open to all cinema goers.
