Drugs, illegal paraphernalia found during central school search

The team confiscated cigarettes, a number of dagga packets, fireworks, a knife and a pair of manipulated scissors during the search.

The central SAPS along with various stakeholders recovered various kinds of illegal paraphernalia during a recent surprise school search.

Accompanying the SAPS were the newly appointed crime prevention wardens, CPF, Tshwane metro police (TMPD) and SANDF.

The parties visited a local high school on May 17 to address social issues, criminal activities within the school and further engage with the learners.

“A number of classrooms were searched as well as the school premises to restore safety and eliminate the threat of any dangerous weapons or substances,” said police spokesperson, Constable Thabang Nkhumise.

LEARNERS CAUGHT WITH THE PARAPHERNALIA ARE EXPECTED TO UNDERGO DISCIPLINARY PROCESSES

The team confiscated cigarettes, a number of dagga packets, fireworks, a knife and a pair of manipulated scissors during the search.

“This will be a continuous effort by the school, security entities and all the relevant stakeholders to monitor learners, further to ensure that learning takes place,” Nkhumise concluded.

Station commander Brigadier MM Dladla commended the team for its excellent work.

“This effort is much appreciated, thanks to all members, other stakeholders and the school management. Our actions prevented incidents such as stabbing cases, usage of drugs and other unlawful activities,” Dladla said.

The learners caught with the paraphernalia are expected to undergo disciplinary processes.
