PEPPS Preparatory learners share their thoughts on moving to Gr 8.

POLOKWANE – Learners across the province are preparing for a fresh start in 2026.

For many who had been in Gr 7 in 2025, the transition to Grade 8 represents one of the biggest milestones in their schooling journey, a shift from the foundation years to the more demanding world of senior schooling.

Review spoke to learners at PEPPS Preparatory School to find out how they feel about starting Gr 8 in 2026 and what they are most excited or nervous about as they prepare for high school.

Their responses reflect a mix of anticipation, curiosity and determination:

Lerato Molotja: I am nervous because high school from preparatory is a big difference. I want to have fun but I am scared because we’ll be the small kids among the bigger ones.

Ndalamo Ramulondo: I am excited and looking forward to learning new things. I hope to pass Gr 8.

Mosa Matlala: I am not nervous at all. I am looking forward to orientation. I hope to be one of the best learners in my grade.

Tebogo Mabotja: I am excited about experiencing orientation and a bit nervous about being in a new grade.

Puno Maja: I anxious about the big change that comes with being in high school but I am excited about the camp, orientation and learning new subjects.

Oratilwe Mangale: I look forward to meeting new people and getting to know our teachers. I am nervous about being in a new grade and being the youngest because now, we are the oldest in prep.
