BEING able to feed his family from what he generate as a Greenside-based street vendor selling oranges and snacks is very crucial to Madimabe Sebola (20), who is from Greenside Ext 44.
The young businessman had failed to further his studies due to financial problems and decided to start his own business.
“After I realised that I cannot manage to go study at any college of my choice, I decided to start a business. I knew if I did I would be able to earn some money rather than just walking the walking the streets doing nothing which can sometimes get me in criminal activities to earn money,” he said.
Sebola said his business had been going for two years and he likes the way his business is growing.
“As a young business man, customers always appreciate and praise by business and that makes me feel positive on my work. With the income I generate, I am able to buy groceries for my family and we don’t go bed with empty stomach, “said Sebola.
“My customers always tell me that I should not give up on my business because they depend on it especially in the afternoon as they pass by my business on the way from work.” he said.
He said although his business is still small, he dreams of running a big business which generates enough income to enable him to create jobs for local unemployed youth.
He further advised the youth not to depend on government or expect anyone to help them.
“As youth we should come up with ideas of creating our own businesses and avoid being all over the streets practising criminal activities taking drugs and alcohols as these can damage us and prevent us from reaching our goals,” he said.
