Young man takes charge to make an income
"I sell spinach and other vegetables because I want to help people eat a healthy and nutritious diet and live a healthy lifestyle"
POLOKWANE – Not being able to find employment did not stop Albert Malekutu (19) from taking the initiative and generating an income through his own hard work
This young entrepreneur believes that making a success of yourself is not dependent on how much money you make at the end of the day, it is how you see yourself and the steps you are willing to take to live a prosperous life.
Albert hails from Sebayeng in Ga-Dikgale just outside Polokwane and sells spinach and other vegetables in the city’s central business district (CBD) over the weekends and during school holidays.
He is a Gr 10 learner at Leruleng High School and he aspires to become a successful businessman someday.
“I sell spinach and other vegetables because I want to help people eat a healthy and nutritious diet and live a healthy lifestyle.
“Eating a healthy diet gives you enough energy to complete the day’s tasks and has a positive impact on your life because of a more elevated mood,” he explains.
Albert started selling vegetables three years ago at the age of 16 and today he is a well-known friendly face in the city’s CBD.
“Today I have several loyal customers and new ones stop by my stall every day. Everyone loves my business and my friendly demeanor.
“They always tell me not to give up on my dream of being a successful businessman and helping to eradicate poverty in our country by having a big enough business to employ others.”
