Finding a place called home

KULANI Mthembi from Nkowankowa township in Tzaneen is urgently searching for her grandmother, whom she only saw once in her life.

Mthembi says her life is a mess because she has nowhere to call home.

She says she grew up at her grandfather’s house. Her grandparents divorced when her mother, Muriel Nonotsi Mthembi was three months old. Muriel stayed with her father.

Kulani says her problems began when her mother died six years ago. She says her grandmother, Roseta Thebe came to bury her daughter and met her granddaughter for the first time.

Soon after Roseta returned to Hammanskraal, Kulani had a falling out with her grandfather. “I tried to talk to my grandfather, but he ignored me. Three months ago I had to move out. I live on hand-outs now,” she says.

Kulani believes that her life would be better if she found her grandmother again.

Anyone with information that could lead this young woman can contact Stephen Mbedzi, CV’s editor, at (015) 293 6400 during office hours.
