Siloe to keep colds at bay with citrus trees
Chemical Suppliers' (PCS) management and staff headed to the Siloe School for the Blind to donate and plant 40 citrus fruit trees in honour of Arbor Week
POLOKWANE Chemical Suppliers’ (PCS) management and staff were prepared to get their hands dirty when they headed to the Siloe School for the Blind on Monday to donate and plant 40 citrus fruit trees in honour of Arbor Week, which is from September 1 to 7.
“When we first came to the school, we heard that most of the learners catch flu during winter and they’ve always treated it with lemons. Over half of the trees we donated today are lemon trees and the rest are oranges and naartjies,” said Melita Mampana, co-owner of Polokwane Chemical Suppliers.
“Trees are very important to me because many more generations can live from the fruits of these trees we donated today, so please take care of them,” said Walter Mampana, co- owner of PCS.
Principal of Siloe School for the Blind, Ramokone Molepo was delighted that PCS donated the trees.
Lesego Mokonyama thanked PCS for the wonderful gift on behalf of the Siloe family and promised to look after and nurture the trees.
