THE Limpopo Tourism Agency (LTA) and Limpopo Economic Development Environment and Tourism (LEDET) launched tourism month at Makgabeng Farm Lodge

THE Limpopo Tourism Agency (LTA) and Limpopo Economic Development Environment and Tourism (LEDET) launched tourism month at Makgabeng Farm Lodge, in Senwabarwana last Monday.

This year’s tourism month is celebrated under the theme, Tourism and Water: Protecting our Common Future.

LEDET MEC, Seaparo Sekoati said tourism and water go hand in glove and people should preserve water and keep heritage sites in good shape to attract tourists.

Kgosi Ngoako Isaac Mmalebogo said Bochum had many tourism destinations. He pointed out Helen Frans Hospital and Mmalebogo Game Reserve.

“We have quite a number of tourism destinations in our area. The government should try and fund the area so that we can conserve and maintain these tourism destinations for future generations,” said Mmalebogo.

Sekoati urged people to consider domestic tourism. “Limpopo citizens should try and visit heritage sites in the province so that the money raised can be used to sustain and maintain those sites for our children to learn the history.”

Sekoati said a research unit should be appointed to look out for heritage sites that needs to be maintained and he urged the community to join forces with LEDET and LTA to keep the tourism mentality strong.

LTA CEO, Nocks Seabi said, “We are inspired by the cooperation we continue to receive from stakeholders in the tourism industry, since we embarked on the stakeholder engagement forum in the province.

“I strongly believe that we have to keep the momentum given this positive spirit and partnership from stakeholders and the tourism industry in particular, our province will continue to see more arrivals thereby growing tourism in the province.”
