After obtaining first and second places respectively at district levels of chess and basketball tournaments, Masedibu High School’s u/15 boys and girls chess teams and u/18 basketball team were treated to a day of paintball and swimming at Predators Paintball recently.
The outing was held to celebrate the teams’ achievements.
The chess teams will represent the province in Bloemfontein from December 10 to 15.
“The aim of the outing is not only to celebrate the teams’ outstanding performance, but to also boost the chess teams’ morale as they will be competing against the toughest teams at national level,” said the principal, Joe Mahomole.
Refilwe Setoaba, who’s part of the girls chess team said the outing boosted the team’s morale and they are ready to compete at national level.
Elly Tsheoga, the chess coach said he already had a strategy in place to win in Bloemfontein and wanted the team to start practising soon.
