Cape Town calling for Curro teacher
Curro Heuwelkruin gr. 2 teacher, Amelia Wolmarans, has been appointed by Curro head office as a literary subject expert in the foundation and intermediate phases after applying for the position and coming out head and shoulders above the rest of the candidates recently.
POLOKWANE – Curro Heuwelkruin gr. 2 teacher, Amelia Wolmarans, has been appointed by Curro head office as a literary subject expert in the foundation and intermediate phases after applying for the position and coming out head and shoulders above the rest of the candidates recently.
There were quite a few requirements for the position. These included having at least five years’ experience in an educational environment, a relevant master’s degree, experience in working with teachers, a high level of computer literacy, being proficient in Afrikaans and English as well as being a team player and a self-starter with excellent work ethics. She was appointed after several rounds of interviews and aptitude tests.
Wolmarans will be moving to Cape Town shortly to take up her new position. “My job will be to design cutting-edge curricula of world-class standard. It will also include development of the curriculum and assessment policy statement, development of learning support material for use in Curro schools and the evaluation of the wide range of learning support materials available in the market and developed by teachers in Curro schools. I will also be conducting workshops and more formal training sessions with teachers, working across different projects that are implemented in Curro schools as well as in the broader education environment, and I will be involved with research projects that are prioritised by the unit,” she said.
She added that she was very honoured and excited to be moving to Cape Town. “But I will surely miss Polokwane.”
Curro Heuwelkruin principal, Eben Lingefelder, said the school was very proud of Wolmarans. “We wish her all the best in her new position.”
