POLOKWANE – Towards the end of every year, the focus is on the gr. 12s with enormous pressure on them to deliver excellent results.
Gr. 12s started their matric exams last Monday by writing English, followed by accounting last Tuesday.
Review asked some learners how they experienced their exams so far.
Dimpho Sono said: “The English paper was nice and easy, with very interesting topics. The accounting exam was not too difficult, but it was very long and we did not have enough time to finish the paper. It should have been a four-hour paper.”
“The accounting paper was not really hard, but I did not finish the whole paper, because it was very long and there was not enough time. The English exam was very nice, the questions were about social networks and teenagers, so we could relate to that and it was enjoyable,” Mahlatse Maluleke said.
Caryn Sibande also said the accounting exam was very long. “I enjoyed it because it was not too difficult. There were just a lot of questions and there was not enough time to finish all the questions. I hope I did not lose a lot of marks on the questions I did not have time to answer.
“The English exam was awesome. There was more than enough time. It was easy and a lot of fun because we could relate to the topics concerning teenagers,” she said.
“The English exam was fine; there was enough time and it was easy. It was a nice way to start exams with a relaxed, easy paper – it sort of relaxed us. The accounting exam was also great. It was relatively easy and I finished right on time,” Nepo Seroka said.
Reuben Makatu said: “The accounting paper was better than expected, it was not bad at all. I expected it to be difficult, but it wasn’t. The problem was that there was not enough time to finish the paper. The three hours just flew by so fast.
“The English exam was very nice. We could relate to the issues in the exam, it was relevant to our lives – social networking and teenage issues. It was great paper to start the exams with.”
