Northern Academy recently had a chess fun day.
Learners from various schools in Polokwane between the age of six and 10 participated in the fun day.
Packets of sweets were awarded to the winners.
According to Rina du Toit, a chess coach said the day was held to create a love for the sport at a very young age.
“Chess does not get a lot of exposure and yet it has been around for many years. That is why we’ve decided to make this day possible and get young children involved in the sport in a fun and entertaining way,” Du Toit said.
