MPHARENG Junior Primary School are the winners of a new sports kit and a science portalab.
The school won these prizes in the OMO Schools Challenge.
This challenge helps learners unleash their full potential through spending time outdoors and getting much-needed physical exercise.
Schools around South Africa have put their weight behind this year’s consumer campaign and learners were rewarded for their efforts.
The nationwide consumer competition started earlier this year and lasted until last month.
Mphareng is one of 75 schools across the country to have benefitted from brand-new sports kits and a Science Portalab.
“OMO understands that the key building blocks of a brighter future for our children begin with subjects like science.
“The reason why we extended the campaign this year, was to include Science Portalabs in an effort to make science in the classroom more meaningful and fun,” OMO spokesperson, Caroline Clayton said.
She said that, as part of celebrating their 50th anniversary, the company committed itself to improving education.
Clayton said the Portalab would help children to work as a team and get learners more involved in lessons because they made science lessons more meaningful.
“Our community projects are aimed at helping children achieve their full potential and when children participate in activities like sports, they learn important life skills.
“We believe our efforts have definitely contributed to improving children’s performance at school and consequently provided them with opportunities to achieve their full potential,” she concluded.
Mphareng’s principal, Joey Kganyango, said the prizes would go a long way in helping the learners to reach their dreams.
