THE Umkhonto WeSizwe Military Veterans Association (MKVA) in the Vhembe district declared its undying support for premier Stan Mathabatha being elected provincial ANC chairperson during the conference to be held in December.
MKVA Vhembe chairperson, Speedo Dau said they also wanted Thembi Nwendamutsu to be treasurer. Dau said Mathabatha should also include David “Dambuza’ Malada, the man who led the bombing of the Sibasa police by MK soldiers during the Apartheid regime in 1980s.
He said Malada also led the MK group that escaped from the Swaziland Prison in 1989.
“Mathabatha is our man and as long as he is leading this province, our two comrades are going to be included in the new provincial executive committee.
“We are disturbed by the tribal tendency that is emerging in the Vhembe region. We are ready to fight this tendency left and right until we defeat it. We are going to protect the green, black and yellow.
“Four months ago, Vhembe ANC branches marched to Frans Mohlala House demanding the disbandment of the regional executive committee. Surprisingly, the very same branches elected the very same people to lead them in the Makhado conference. It is upon our shoulders to see to it that the ANC is in good hands with people that we trust. Now the ANC is not in good hands with the new regional executive committee,” he said
“We support and under-stand the demarcation board. Our enemy is anarchy in the ANC. We will engage the people of Malamulele, so that we see how best can their problems be solved. We are crashing all elements of anarchy and promote unity in the ANC.
“We are going to have a programme that educates this new generation about the movement, and its underground operations.
“We are going to have a ‘Heroes Day’ and it is going to be held at Malamulele where people were rioting demanding their own municipality,” he said.
“Most of the MKVA members are unemployed, but we are happy that the Vhembe mayor is taking that concern into consideration,” Dau said.
