POLOKWANE – Isaiah Mothiva (38), the petrol attendant from Sasol Bendor filling station that was shot on Saturday, is still in the intensive care unit at Mediclinic Limpopo but is making good progress.
Mothiva was shot in the early hours of Saturday morning, allegedly by an angry customer who reportedly wanted to fill his vehicle with petrol and pay for it later.
When he was refused, he allegedly drove off, only to return later in a different vehicle to make the same demand. On being refused again, he allegedly shot Mothiva and fled.
Following a huge manhunt by the police, both by road and by air, the alleged shooter was traced to his home in Bendor, where he allegedly shot himself dead before he could be taken into custody.
Sasol Bendor owner, Johan Potgieter, said Mothiva was making good progress. “He is never alone and we take turns to visit him, taking his fellow petrol attendants and other employees with us to see him.
“Isaiah walks a very close journey with Jesus. This has been seen in the work he does and in the way he was protected and not killed when he was shot.
“He has always been an example for every person he meets and has been an excellent worker for 11 years,” Potgieter said.
