POLOKWANE – Learners from Masedibu High School in Seshego learned more about property and construction during the Nedbank My Future, My Career programme, which was held at Ster-Kinekor Mall of the North on Sunday.
The My Future, My Career programme will run from February 2 to March 23, and aims to provide gr. 9 to gr. 12 learners with the opportunity to gain insight into a wide range of careers available to them.
Ster-Kinekor cinemas are used to screen a series of career choices to learners from previously disadvantaged secondary schools.
Information from various fields of study is communicated through this medium. Each broadcast consists of a hosted panel-type discussion with academics and professionals from each industry.
Industries that will be discussed include law and criminal justice, health services and education, entrepreneurship, transport, logistics and distribution, accounting, banking and financing, arts and culture and environment, computer, IT and communication and tourism and hospitality, as well as mining and engineering.
Other role players in this programme include Primestars Marketing, AECI, JD Group, Resilient Property Income Fund, National Youth Development Agency and Gauteng City Region Academy.
“The programme is a good initiative and this is why we support it,” said Andrew Masego, the manager of Ster-Kinekor Mall of the North. We learned a lot today and would love to come again,” said Katlego Molongwana, one of the learners.
