ACTING Vhembe mayor, Lucas Manyuha, said residents should take the Integrated Development Plan (IDP) seriously and become active participants in the decision making process to ensure their input helped municipalities to develop the best service delivery strategies.

Manyuha spoke at the Tshilamba community hall during the district’s draft IDP review and budget public hearing.

“We are here to meet with representatives of the community to tell them about our five year development plan. We need your advice on projects that affect you. We want to improve service delivery,” he said.

According to Manyuha, R1,4 billion was set aside in the budget for the current financial year to improve service delivery in Vhembe.

He said the money would be used to address issues like water and sanitation.

Thivhulawi Munyai, a resident of Mutshilundi village, said the poor water related services in the area was of particular concern to her.

She also said RDP houses that should have been built two years ago, stood unfinished.

Manyuha said the problem will be addressed.

The Vhembe district municipality’s draft IDP review and budget public hearings took place in Mutale, Musina, Makhado and Thulamela last week.
