Field trip to organic farm a hit

Neither the winter breeze nor the thick morning mist could spoil the excitement of the foundation phase learners at Nirvana Primary School when they went on their field trip.

POLOKWANE – Neither the winter breeze nor the thick morning mist could spoil the excitement of the foundation phase learners at Nirvana Primary School when they went on their field trip.

There were about 300 gr. R to 3 learners who went on this field trip to the Organic Farm in Haenertsburg last Thursday.

The children left the school for their one day trip in five busses at about 08:00 as their parents waved goodbye from the sidewalk.

They were accompanied by 11 teachers and three support staff members.

Thokozane Mhlongo, school principal, said the aim of the field trip was to focus on subjects like life orientation, life skills, mathematics and languages.

“On this trip the children learned about better communication, which we hope will improve their language.

“They milked cows, counted the different animals and there were other activities that contributed to their development.

“The children had a lot of fun, and we plan on offering this field trip annually,” Mhlogo said.
