Books to help school

JH MOLOTO Secondary School in Ga-Mabotja in Moletjie recently received a mobile library worth R35 000 from MTN.

JH MOLOTO Secondary School in Ga-Mabotja in Moletjie recently received a mobile library worth R35 000 from MTN.

Mary-Jane Mokatse, MTN regional marketing manager, said the library might look small, but it carried a lot of knowledge and she encouraged the learners to visit it as often as possible.

The library was donated to the school after a local resident, Pitsi Semenya, asked for a donation from MTN in January. Semenya was unable to attend the handover ceremony.

Semenya’s daughter, Boitumelo, said her father loved to read, which is why he wanted companies to donate books to the school.

“My father used to tell me that one should learn as much as possible to face the world with as smile. I am happy to see that my father’s hard working paying off, and this might decrease the level of illiteracy in the community,” said Boitumelo.

Principal Willy Mongwe thanked MTN and Semenya for the donation.

“Semenya never said a word to me about the donation. He is a true community builder and we would like to thank him for bringing such a special gift to the school. The library will be very useful to the learners,” said Mongwe.

Mokatse said MTN wanted to invest in education and schools should not hesitate to approach them.

Marcus Mahlo, the president of the learner representative council, encouraged the learners to make use of the library.
