Hotel construction starts 3 years on

The Rezidor Hotel Group has started groundwork for the construction of a new multi-million rand hotel, the Polokwane Park Inn, adjacent to the Polokwane Golf Club, which has been in the pipeline since the beginning of 2011.

Park Inn by Radisson is a mid-market hotel chain offering three and four-star properties for both business and leisure travellers. There are more than 100 hotels across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Construction of the hotel was stopped in 2011 by the municipality after a resolution taken by the city council during a council meeting at the end of May 2011.

Municipal spokesperson, Tidimalo Chuene, confirmed that the group had been given the go ahead by the municipality.

Attempts to contact the Rezidor Hotel Group’s development section for more information drew a blank, with a recorded message stating that personnel were attending a conference in Addis Ababa.
